Meet Patricia
About Me
I was born and raised in southeast Houston, Texas. Both of my parents were Mexican immigrants, my dad was a welder who emphasized that working hard paid off and my mom was a stay home mom. Growing up, my parents were always pushing me and my two siblings to pursue higher education. Going to college was not an option for us, it was a requirement. I attended HISD schools from elementary to high school and went to the University of Houston. Through my undergraduate career, I had many mentors and great opportunities at experiencing various internships.
Why I Joined MFR
I had heard good things about MFR from other former interns while I was still in college. I joined MFR as an intern after having interned at a Fortune 500 company and a large international public accounting firm. I wanted to experience the smaller accounting firm environment so that I could make a better full-time career path decision for after I graduated. After comparing the experiences, I chose MFR and have been here ever since.
Why I Stay at MFR
Prior to joining MFR full-time, I was fortunate enough to have experienced the work lifestyle at a large company and a Big Four accounting firm. What keeps me at MFR is that MFR does not use “people count” only as a selling point, but actually lives it in how MFR treats their clients and their employees. MFR has provided me the best of both worlds in the sense that they have helped me launch and develop professionally, while at the same time shown the flexibility that my second job, that of mother of two, requires.
Outside of Work
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons. I also like going to the movies, trying new restaurants, jogging and reading.
