In the Community
People count is not just our tagline. The phrase embodies not only who we are and what we do – but, how we do it. More than a subtle nod back to the numbers-oriented foundation of our profession, People count highlights our commitment to clients, employees and the community as a whole. MFR is committed to strengthening and improving our communities through a variety of programs.

Mentoring
A group of 30 MFR employees regularly mentors students at Pilgrim Academy, a local elementary and middle school. Each session with the students includes a guided educational activity and one-on-one learning to help students prepare for the real world and plan a career path. The students end the year with a field trip to the MFR office.

MFR regularly takes on a Genesys Works intern in our internal finance department. Genesys Works exists to enable economically disadvantaged high school students to enter and thrive in the economic mainstream by providing them the knowledge and work experience required to succeed as professionals.

Annual Service Activity
Each year, MFR as a whole participates in a community activity together. Most recently, the firm participated in preparation efforts for the 30th Annual City Wide Club Thanksgiving Big Feast. Approximately 55 volunteers from MFR were on-hand help prepare the turkey dinner and all the trimmings. Our New Orleans team took a day to help with city revitalization efforts (see picture above). The group worked to improve the homes and properties of elderly and handicapped residents.

Individual Involvement
MFR employees are involved in the community during non-work hours as well. Our team members participate, on an individual basis, in a variety of organizations, including the Houston Area Women’s Center, the Collaborative for Children, the Houston A+ Challenge, Houston Works and INROADS Houston, among others.
